摘要： A disposable, self-sealing pouch is disclosed which is readily adaptable for use for sterilization, sterility maintenance, disposal of contaminated items, and like medical applications. The pouch includes first and second coextensive pouch webs which are marginally joined together to define the interior of the pouch. The first pouch web defines a transversely extending access opening slit through which articles may be inserted into the pouch. In order to effect closing and sealing of the access opening slit, the pouch includes adhesive means provided on the first pouch web on opposite sides of the access opening slit. By this construction, the pouch may be easily and securely sealed by folding the pouch onto itself so that the adhesive means is brought into confronting relation with itself, thus forming an adhesive-to-adhesive of the access opening slit.

摘要： Side gusseted industrial bags are continuously (or intermittently) formed from continuous web materials, and simultaneously filled and sealed in one fast operation by the method and apparatus of this invention. The various features of the invention include a tube former which wraps the web about a shaped filling mandrel most preferably with the assistance of an air bearing, registration and tension controls to accurately maintain the register of the web in relationship to printed blocks or indicia; evacuation steps to neatly gusset the bag with or without mechanical assistance, to tighten the bag firmly about the product, and to continuously wash the inside welding surfaces thereof with a cleansing high velocity air stream to thereby retain such surfaces in a more virgin or noncontaminated welding condition; filling steps that are practiced to provide a free margin of material at the top of the bag to complement the welding and gusseting steps; and hot gas welding and chilling techniques that can provide tough welds or seals with high repeatability, and which are able to withstand the shock or weight of the product load with sufficient immediacy to enable fast production cycles.

摘要： A tape comprising two layers of flexible sheet material bonded together by pressure-sensitive adhesive. The outer surfaces of the sheet material are coated with a permanent-type adhesive such as a heat seal material. The tape is sealed between facing members of a flexible pouch adjacent one edge. A tear strip is provided for tearing open the pouch and removing the portion of one of the facing members bonded to one side of the tape. At least a portion of the pressure-sensitive adhesive remains with the other side of the tape bonded to the other facing member of the closure. This other facing member can be folded over and adhered to the outside of the package by means of the remaining pressure-sensitive adhesive.
