    • A push stick for use with stationary power tools including table saws and shapers. The push stick has a flat base plate that can ride on the surface of the power tool thereby providing stable operation with a resulting increase in safety for the operator and more accurate cutting. A handle of the push stick is placed at an optimum angle to provide both downward and forward pressure on a work piece. The push stick may also be equipped with a variable handle angle to optimize its use with different power tools. The base plate of the push stick may be adjustable in thickness to accommodate work pieces of different thicknesses.

    • A miter guide for guiding a work piece along the cutting path of a saw blade or another working tool. The miter guide includes a guide bar which fits in a slot in the surface of a table, a fence for supporting the work piece, and a telescoping extension arm connected between the fence and the guide bar for fixing the position of the fence at a predetermined angle with respect to the plane of the saw blade. The fence is pivotally connected to the guide bar, and the telescoping extension arm is also pivotally connected to the guide bar, as well as being pivotally connected to the fence at an end of the fence remote from the guide bar. A broad based triangle is formed by the guide bar, the fence and the extension arm. The extension arm includes a rod that is slidably received in a tube, and a knob that is turned to push a deformable portion of the tube against the rod to fix a length of the extension arm, thereby setting the angle of the fence.

    • A combination tablesaw top and mitre bar is provided which eliminates the play encountered in previous systems. In addition the manufacturing tolerances are much relaxed, leading to reduced cost and little if no operator adjustment. In a preferred embodiment, the tablesaw has a flat top with a groove therein extending substantially across the top, the groove having a top and a bottom, wherein the groove has a cross-section which is wider at the top than at a point below the top. The mitre bar for use with the tablesaw has a top and a bottom, and a cross-section such that the top of the mitre bar is larger in dimension than the lateral dimension of the bottom of the mitre bar, but the top of the mitre bar is smaller in dimension than the top of the tablesaw groove. This relationship between the groove and the mitre bar is provided such that the mitre bar will sit down into the groove without extending above the tablesaw top. Several preferred embodiments are described.

    • A very accurate, multiple position, miter device or gauge for use with a table saw or the like includes a protractor having a plurality of equally spaced precision drilled step-holes, a sine bar, a micrometer adjust, and a guide bar adapted to fit within a guide groove or miter slot. In accordance with a particular example, the device includes a protractor having thirteen equally spaced, angled step-holes precisely spaced at 15.degree. from one another. The micrometer adjust includes a thimble screw having 1/6020 (one minute) increments with one full revolution of the thimble screw adjusting the angle of the sine bar by 1/40 (15 minutes). Also, the guide bar includes 0.degree., 3 3/4.degree. and 7 1/2.degree. offset threaded openings for receiving an angle hole lock shoulder bolt which passes through the protractor and into the guide bar. Hence, the miter device can be set at selected precise 15.degree., 7 1/2.degree. and 3 3/4.degree. increments using the angle step-holes, the 0.degree., 3 3/4.degree. or 7 1/2.degree. offset openings, and the angle hole lock shoulder bolt. Angles between the selected 15.degree., 7 1/2.degree., and 3 3/4.degree. increments are set precisely using the angle step-holes and offset openings together with the thimble screw. Once placed in the desired position, the sine bar is locked into position by a locking screw.
