    • The present invention relates to a disc for abrading which is fitted to an electrically driven tool and is able to freely abrade flat surfaces and curved surfaces. And provided is a disc for abrading flat surfaces and curved surfaces, wherein the disc comprises: a holder of a plastic material, which rotates following the coupling of the electrically driven tool into a coupling hole formed in the centre thereof; a disc-shaped abrasive-fabric assembly formed by stacking layers of a plurality of abrasive-fabric pieces circumferentially along the edge of the holder; a resin layer for integrally linking the holder and the abrasive-fabric assembly; and a circular curving part which is formed between the edge of the holder and the edge of the abrasive-fabric assembly, and wherein the curving part can flex along the surface of a material to be abraded, so as to freely abrade a flat surface or curved surface of the material to be abraded.

    • A flap disc for surface finishing a V-shaped work piece. The disc includes a backing plate and a plurality of abrasive flaps that are mounted on first and second sides of the backing plate. The abrasive flaps are radially disposed on the backing plate, each abrasive flap having an outer surface and an inner surface. A portion of the inner surface is adhesively attached to the backing plate. A second portion of the inner surface is disposed on the outer surface of an adjacent abrasive flap in an overlapping fashion so as to position the outer surface of the abrasive flap at an angle to the backing plate. The outer surfaces of the abrasive flaps on the first and second sides of the backing plate face in the same circumferential direction and taper radially toward one another to define a substantially V-shaped finishing surface.

    • An abrasive grinding tool and method for making the same characterized by a shaft having a longitudinal axis and a relatively thin flat bundle of monofilaments. The bundle is secured to the shaft and projects radially outwardly from two sides of the shaft in a direction generally perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. The shaft may comprise a wire having two securing sections twisted beyond the bundle to form a twisted stem. In one embodiment of the invention, the bundle has intermediate and end sections positioned generally in a plane passing through the longitudinal axis of the shaft. In an alternative embodiment, the end sections are bent circumferentially away from the intermediate sections forming a predetermined bend on each side of the shaft. In another embodiment of the invention, the securing sections of the wire stem are twisted whereby the monofilaments project radially outwardly in a helical pattern.

    • A rotary tool for performing surface finishing operations such as sanding, grinding, buffing, polishing and others. The tool has a rotary spindle with a shank portion at one end of which is retained by a rotary chuck of a power source. A portion of the spindle at the opposite end has a flexible planar surface finishing member attached to it in such manner that the member lies in a common plane with the longitudinal axis of the spindle. The finishing member is preferably made of multiple flexible layers fastened together by a centrally located eyelet. The finishing member bends when rotated against a flat or curved surface to be finished and sweeps in a linear direction across the surface. This tool is especially useful for deburring holes and is self centering when inserted in a hole.
