摘要： A garment to be worn on the lower part of the body for the retention of body fluids includes a body portion and a crotch portion. The body portion has a waist opening and the body and crotch portion form leg openings. A laminated fabric is disposed at least in the crotch portion for the retention of body fluids. The laminated fabric is liquid-proof, breathable and elastic. A preferred form of the laminated fabric includes a thermoplastic film layer and a fiber-containing material layer. The film layer is disposed inside the garment when the garment is worn.

摘要： The present seamless knit tubular blank is particularly adapted for use in forming body garments, such as panties and the like. In one embodiment, the panty is formed of a single seamless tubular blank while a second embodiment of the panty is formed of two seamless tubular blanks. In each embodiment, the seamless tubular blanks are provided with a visual cutting guide which is formed during knitting of the blank for providing a visually detectable different appearance and a visual separation between first and second fabric portions of the blank. The second fabric portions of the blank are adapted to be removed from the first fabric portions to impart the requisite shape to the first fabric portions for use in forming the body garment. The special stitch loop construction may be provided only along the juncture of the first and second fabric portions or may be repeated throughout the second fabric portion to provide a clearly defined visually detectable different appearance between the first and second fabric portions.

摘要： A technique for converting flexible sheeting formed of non-woven thermoplastic material into disposal apparel shorts. The sheeting is die cut to yield identical blanks of generally rectangular form whose lower section has a pair of crotch tabs extending therefrom in opposite directions. The side margins of two superposed blanks are ultrasonically welded together to define a tube whose upper margin constitutes the waist of the shorts. Then the tabs of each blank are ultrasonically welded together at their ends to complete the crotch and define a pair of leg openings. Finally, an elastic band of thermoplastic material is ultrasonically welded in its stretched state to the inner circle of the waist to create a puckered waist which is expandable to conform to the waist size of the wearer.

摘要： In a preferred embodiment, a continuous elastic ribbon is fed to a diaper web assembly station in a stretched condition. While traveling to the assembly station, an adhesive is applied to discrete lengths of the elastic ribbon at regularly spaced intervals. Simultaneously, discrete absorbent core segments as well as webs of moisture-impervious backsheet material and moisture-pervious topsheet material are fed to the diaper web assembly station. At the station, the stretched elastic ribbon is adhered to the moisture-impervious backsheet web in the discrete areas of the elastic which are covered by adhesive at predetermined points along the length of said web. After the adhesive has set up, the assembled web and the elastic contained therein is severed in its unadhered areas, whereupon the unadhered end portions become relaxed and inactive without affecting the functionality of the adhered portions in the ultimate assemblage. The inventive concept in its broadest sense relates to the continuous adherence of discrete lengths of stretched elastic to a continuously moving web at relativey high operating speeds and thereafter severing the elastic in the unadhered areas to produce elasticized structures having discrete strands of elastic adhered thereto at predetermined locations along their length. In a particularly preferred embodiment, the aforementioned process is utilized to apply discrete elastic leg bands to a disposable diaper structure to provide improved containment and fit therein.
