    • A take-out mechanism for removing sets of blow molded bottles from a blow mold includes a rotary turret, a take-away conveyor and a drive for moving the turret between the blow mold and the take-away conveyor. The turret has a number of sides with a plurality of vacuum plugs extending from each side. The drive moves the turret toward the mold to extend a set of plugs on one side of the turret into mold cavities and vacuum-capture bottles molded in the cavities. After opening of the mold, the turret is lowered and rotated 90.degree. to position the vacuum-held bottles at the infeed end of the take-away conveyor. Rotation of the turret positions a second set of plugs facing a second mold moved to the take-out position. Subsequent rapid retraction of the turret moves the set of removed bottles into the take-away conveyor and powers the conveyor to receive the bottles while maintaining orientation between individual bottles. The turret is raised to remove the plugs from the bottles held in the conveyor and then rapidly extended back to the next mold to position the second set of plugs in bottles in the mold.

    • A molding die assembly includes an upper molding die and a lower molding die facing the upper molding die with provision for their alignment. The upper molding die includes an upper core, while the lower molding die includes a hollow cylinder and a lower core. The upper core has one of the molding surfaces that corresponds to a molding, while the lower core has the other molding surface corresponding to the molding. The lower core slides in the cylinder and defines a cavity in cooperation with the upper core. A clamping device applies a clamping force to the upper molding die and the lower molding die, and a compression device applies a compressive force between the upper core and the lower core. The clamping force is generated between the upper molding die and the lower molding die but not between the upper core and the lower core so that no clamping force is applied to the preform. Hence, if the upper platen and the lower platen are not parallel or if the volume of the preforms varies, surface accuracy and shape accuracy of the molding are still achieved.

    • A novel die holder member for use in co-extrusion cross-head die apparatus for applying two coating materials in inner and outer layers to an electrical wire, or the like. A body member has a through, axial bore in which a tip and die members, with respective tip and die holders, are positioned. A pair of radial bores, with which sources of two flowable coating materials communicate, extend from the exterior of the body member to the axial bore. The first coating material flows forwardly of the apparatus through a first flow passage, the second coating material flows rearwardly through a second flow passage, and the two materials flow forwardly, in superposed relation, through a third flow passage from a confluence of the first and second passages to an orifice in the die member where they are deposited in uniform, inner and outer layers, on the wire. The die holder member of the invention has frustoconical external and internal surfaces with a first, annular groove extending to and 360.degree. around the external surface. A second groove extends into and 180.degree. around the external surface and communicates through grooves at each of its ends with the first groove. A plurality of spaced openings about the periphery of the first groove communicate between the first groove and the internal surface, whereby coating material deposited in the second groove flows into and around the first groove and through the openings therein to the interior of the die holder.

    • An apparatus for the manufacture of corrugated tubing of thermoplastic including a shaping path adjoining the head of an extruder, composed of a guide arranged in a frame structure, along which guide mold halves closed together in pairs as annular molds are advanced in close succession, said mold halves being provided on a lower side thereof with racks, at least one drive pinion arranged in the initial part of the shaping path for meshing with the racks of the mold halves as the same are pushed along the path, and an outlet, following the shaping path, in which the mold halves are separated from one another and are transferred to mutually separate return paths, on which they are shunted back by a conveyor to the inlet. In order to ensure introduction of the mold halves free of bumping at the inlet and a corresponding impact-free withdrawal of the mold halves at the outlet of the shaping path, the conveyor includes sequentially arranged, driven pinions adapted to come into mesh with the racks on the mold halves. The transverse conveying of the mold halves between the outlet and the inlet is performed by a pinion driven in a transversely movable manner.
