The method includes the steps of: (a) providing a multi-function network printing device; (b) identifying a business purpose having specialized needs; and (c) customizing the built-in functions and the associated GUI icons based upon the specialized needs of the identified business purpose. In a more specific embodiment, the customizing step includes the step of adding additional functions to the multi-function device and associated icons displayed on the graphical-user-interface. In yet a further detailed embodiment, the customizing step includes the steps of: (i) providing a plurality of customization programs, each of which are associated with a particular business purpose; (ii) selecting one of the plurality of customization programs depending upon the business purpose identified in the identifying steps; and (iii) running the selected customization program on the multi-function device.

摘要： The invention relates to an information processing apparatus and method which allow a user to readily select, upon transmission of an electronic mail or upon uploading of image data, image data of a plurality of images to be attached to the electronic mail or image data to be transmitted. The user uses a cross key and a determination button of an inputting section of a camcorder to operate an anchor 424 on an image selection screen 411 to operate a page backward feeding button 421 and a page feeding button 422 to select a thumbnail image displayed. In response to an operation of the user, the anchor 424 is positioned on the left side of the number of the thumbnail image designated by the user, and image data of the thumbnail image at which the anchor 424 is positioned are selected. At a left upper portion of the selected thumbnail image, a check mark representative of such selection is displayed. When the user wants to end the image selection operation, it operates the anchor to operate a determination button 426. The present invention can be applied to a camcorder.

摘要： A digital image reproduction apparatus including a scanner unit, a printer unit, a memory, an operator control unit integrated in the apparatus and provided with an input device and a display for the user to give operator control commands to the apparatus, a network connection unit for coupling to a network for the purpose of communication with a digital external environment including at least a number of workstations of users, a management unit connected to the scanner unit, printer unit, memory and network connection unit, and, via the network connection unit, to the workstations, which management unit maintains logic storage spaces in the memory, each allocated to a specific user. The management unit, when receiving from a said user's workstation a digital data file for printing, stores the file in the logic storage space of the relevant user and passes it for printing to the printer unit only on a command from the operator control unit, which command identifies the relevant file, and also, on receipt from the operator control unit of an order for scanning, such job being provided with a user identification, stores the data generated by the scanner unit in the logic storage space of the relevant user and passes it to a workstation of the relevant user only on a command from the latter workstation, which command identifies the relevant file. Other files, such as sets of adjustment parameters for printing or scanning processes, can also be stored in the logic storage spaces.

摘要： A hand-held image capture and communication appliance and method of using same are provided wherein images may be captured and saved in an internal memory. The appliance includes a processor for manipulating and exhibiting the images on a built-in display screen. Program code stored in the internal memory and executed by the processor includes a delete page module for purging the memory of captured images when they are no longer needed. The delete page module includes a code segment for displaying an animation, which, in the preferred embodiment, is designed to convey the concept to the user that a delete operation is irreversible. One implementation of the animation shows the deleted page or group of pages turn into ashes, which is a metaphor for the permanence of the delete operation. A confirmation prompt is provided prior to carrying out the delete operation to inform the user how many pages or images will be deleted and what percentage of memory will be freed. In addition, the confirmation prompt allows further consideration by the user before the delete request is fulfilled.
