    • Throughput between personal computers and the Internet is increased by using inverse multiplexing over local loop telephone lines of different users. The different personal computers share the multiple intersubnetwork connections with each other, so that the efficiency of the use of the intersubnetwork connections is increased. Each of the computers is capable of receiving and/or transmitting inverse-multiplexed data signals over the same plurality of intersubnetwork connections. Preferably, at each computer, use is made of a separate connecting device locally coupled to the computer and an intersubnetwork connection and remotely coupled to one or more other such connecting devices. The connecting devices are placed in different housings, each having a regular connection with a local computer and a wireless transmission connection to corresponding connecting devices in neighboring housings. The interchanged data are inverse-multiplexed and transmitted via the intersubnetwork connections as inverse multiplex data.

    • A mobile wireless bridge (MWB) (110) is able to bridge traffic in either direction between a wireless LAN (140) and a wireless WAN (130), and support roaming of LAN clients (141-143, 151-153) and of the MWB (110) itself. Through the MWB (110), wired (150) and wireless LAN (140) clients (141-143, 151-153) and users are provided Internet (190) connectivity even if the LAN client (141-143, 151-153) is not otherwise able to access the wireless WAN (120). Preferred MWBs (110) will utilize mobile cellular communication networks 100 as part of a WAN (120, 130) used to obtain access to Internet (190) resources. LAN clients (141-143, 151-153) and users can also access each other through the MWB (110) with the MWB (110) functioning as a hub, switch, gateway, and/or access point. Some MWBs (110) will be adapted to access multiple types of LANs (140, 150) and multiple types of WANs (120, 130).

    • A nonvolatile memory having a non-power of two memory capacity is disclosed. The nonvolatile memory device includes at least one plane. The plane includes a plurality of blocks with each of the blocks divided into a number of pages and each of the blocks defined along a first dimension by a first number of memory cells for storing data, and along a second dimension of by a second number of memory cells for storing data. The nonvolatile memory has a non-power of two capacity proportionally related to a total number of memory cells in said plane. The nonvolatile memory also includes a plurality of row decoders. An at least substantially one-to-one relationship exists, in the memory device, for number of row decoders to number of pages. Each of the row decoders is configured to facilitate a read operation on an associated page of the memory device.
