    • A water monitoring and control system adapted for residential and commercial use automatically shuts off the water supply after a predetermined period of time, whether the flow is intentional or unintentional, thereby preventing damage from leaks and other malfunctions. The system also gives an indication of all water flow ranging from normal usage to leakage of a few drops and large flow, as would typically occur due to a break in the plumbing system. The system is easily bypassed in the event of power outages. In terms of hardware, the main components of the system include a normally closed water shut-off valve, preferably solenoid-operated. A pressure-responsive switch senses changes in water pressure and sends a signal in the event of a pressure drop, and a timer is provided to start a timing cycle when there is a demand for water, either intentional or unintentional, and shut-off the flow after a predetermined period of time selected by the user. The system also preferably incorporates a water demand indicator used to visually indicate water usage in the system, again, whether it is intentional or unintentional.

    • An improved flow sensor of the type having inlet and outlet ports, a moving plate means for moving in response to fluid flow through the sensor, a sensor means for sensing the movement of the moving plate and creating a signal related to its location, and a biasing means for biasing the plate towards the inlet (nullbase elementsnull). One improvement comprises the moving plate composed of a magnetizable material and the sensor means comprised of a steel sensor disposed adjacent to a path traveled by the moving plate for sensing the location of the moving plate. Another improvement is to a sensor having, in addition to the base elements, a sealing means, the improved sealing means comprising: a bullet rod slidingly received in a bullet port mounted within the sensor and including at a terminal end of the bullet rod a sealing plate adapted to sealingly engage the moving orifice plate, the bullet rod moving in relation to the moving plate until a flared end of the bullet rod engages a bullet port, causing the sealing plate to disengage from the moving plate allowing fluid to pass through the orifice plate. Still another improvement to a sensor having the base elements plus a sealing means comprises a second sealing means for preventing flow between an outer periphery of the moving plate and an inner surface of the sensor.     • The present invention relates to a measuring instrument installation on a process circuit capable of being subjected to a medium under high pressure, with a locking element between the measuring instrument and the process circuit. According to the invention the locking element is a ball valve 18 provided with a valve body as the ball housing and with a process circuit connection 2 and a measuring instrument connection 3. In addition a ball 7 which can be rotated back and forth between a pass position 6 and a lock position is installed in the ball housing, said ball being provided with a passage bore 8 that can be positioned in the pass position. Furthermore two ball seats 12, 13 pointing respectively in the direction of the process circuit connection 2 and of the measuring instrument connection 3 are provided, each being provided with a sliding sleeve 14, 15 spring-loaded and capable of sliding in the direction of the ball 7. Furthermore each sliding sleeve 14, 15 is connected to a sealing packing 19, 20 pressed in a ring-shaped manner against the ball 7, so that a ball space 25 which is not directly sealed off from the process circuit connection 2 and the measuring instrument connection 3 is constituted between the sealing packings 19, 20, whereby the ball housing 1 is provided in the area of the previously mentioned ball space 25 with a relief/bleed connection 26 with a connected actuated relief/bleed valve 27.
