    • The present invention provides a system and device for applying liquid tire surface treatment products, including dressing products, to the sidewall of a tire in a more efficient, convenient, and mess-free method. The invention provides for an applicator that has a concave curvature, with an applicator body and an applicator head. Both the applicator head and applicator body have beveled inward edges. The present invention also provides for the substantially universal connector, between the applicator body and product container, such as to fit most conventional product containers commercially offered and available to consumers of tire surface treatment products. Additionally, the invention provides a product delivery channel that is in substantial contact with the applicator head, such that the distribution of flow of tire surface treatment product is not restricted between the delivery channel and the applicator head.

    • A flow through felt liquid dispensing apparatus for applying liquids to a receiving surface. The dispensing apparatus may include one or more dispensing heads each including a dispensing gun and an articulated rub block. The articulated rub block includes a recess or galley just behind the felt so as to provide a puddle of liquid material for soaking through the felt during a dispensing operation. The apparatus may be tilted so as to present only one dispensing head at a time to the receiving surface. The galley has a geometry to improve the bead profile of the liquid material dispensed onto the surface. Liquid material is dispensed by relative lateral movement between the apparatus and the receiving surface.

    • A method for applying a coating to an optical surface of an optical device. In one embodiment, the method includes the steps of placing a coating solution in a cliche of a cliche plate, transferring the coating solution from the cliche to deformable body of a transfer pad, and pressing the transfer pad to the optical surface so as to transfer the coating solution from the deformable body of the transfer pad to the optical surface. The method further includes a step of irradiating the coating solution associated with the optical surface at a wavelength of microwave so as to form a coating layer on the optical surface. The coating layer can be further cured to form a desired coating on a proper optical surface. The optical device can be an optical lens having at least one optical surface, or a mold that can be used to produce an optical lens. In other words, the present invention allows a coating to be applied directly to an optical surface of an optical lens. Alternatively, a coating can be first applied to an optical surface of at least one mold and then be transferred to an optical surface of an optical lens during casting process.

    • An apparatus and method is disclosed for lubricating the spaced apart beads of a pneumatic tire prior to mounting of the tire on a wheel. A conveyor is provided for moving the tires having different outside diameters, axial widths, and central opening diameters fed in random succession along a fixed path through a lubrication station. An interceptor is positioned in proximity to the station and is moveable between a first position where tires delivered to the station by the conveyor move freely through the station, and a second position where tires delivered to the station by the conveyor engage the interceptor to stop the tires on the conveyor at the station. The interceptor stops successive tires of varying sizes to perform a lubrication operation on the tires of varying sizes when intermixed on the conveyor in random order. The interceptor is selectively moveable between the first and second position. At least one longitudinally extending, lubricating member is provided having a first axis. The lubricating member is rotatable about an axis of rotation offset from the first axis, such that a distance between the axis of rotation and the first axis is at least as great as a radius as the central opening diameter of the largest tire to be lubricated.

    • In a melt deposition painting station, a solid body of paint is fed onto an endless belt conveyor, incorporating a substantially planar belt flight, a head pulley, and turn round means adjacent to the contact point of the paint block and the moving steel strip and consisting of a stationary guide and an idler pulley. The turn round means is so constructed that the direction of the belt movement after the turn is at least parallel to that of the continuously moving strip and preferably at an angle away from it. The head pulley is preferably coated with a high friction material such as natural rubber. The planar belt flight is adapted to support one or more blocks of substantially solvent-free paint composition, which becomes bonded to the pliable, durable heat-resistant material of the belt. The belt causes continuous movement of the paint block towards one end of the flight to affect melting of some portion of a solid body of paint composition onto a moving strip. In its simplest form, the flight may slide upon a supporting table with the stationary guide of the turn round being the edge of the table. Alternatively, the paint block may be fed vertically downwards between two belt conveyors moving in mutually opposite direction.
