摘要： A blood plasma collection system comprises a sealed collection bottle with a flexible plastic transfer tube sealed into its top for collecting plasma. A flexible sample tube is also sealed into the top of the bottle and connects to a sample vial for receiving a plasma sample decanted from the bottle. The sample vial is sealed to the sample tube by a resilient plug. A vent tube and filter are also be connected to the plug. This permits a representative plasma sample to be decanted from the bottle into the sample vial after plasma is collected.

摘要： A blood collection assembly is provided for blood collection tubes, and more particularly for evacuated blood collection tubes, whereby the potential exposure of laboratory technicians or hospital personnel to potentially infectious blood specimens is reduced. The device consists of a cap which is configured to be placed over and fitted onto the rubber stopper of an evacuated collection tube. The top surface of the cap includes a centrally located bore section which is surrounded by a downwardly directed retaining ring to prevent accidental exposure of the user to the upper flange portion of the stopper wherein the user is protected from exposure to the contaminated bottom surface of the stopper as the cap and stopper are removed from the collection tube.

摘要： A seal for a container having a straight cylindrical neck with an opening in the neck includes an upper sealing member which fits over the top of the neck and down a portion of the cylindrical surface of the neck. The top sealing member has a tapered edge on its bottom which accepts an indentically tapered edge of an intermediate sealing member which engages it. The intermediate sealing member also has a further tapered edge which accepts a tapered edge of a bottom sealing member which mates with it. A lower locking member goes around the cylindrical neck of the bottle and is shaped such that a portion of it is spaced away from the cylindrical neck of the bottle to form a cavity in which fits the intermediate and lower sealing members. A top locking member goes over the top sealing member and both a skirt on the top sealing member and the top locking member also fit within the cavity of the lower locking member. Threads between the upper and lower locking member hold the structure together.

摘要： A port cap for attachment to an inlet or an outlet port of a device, especially a medical device such as a cardiotomy reservoir, venous reservoir, blood oxygenator or blood dialyzer. The port cap comprises a hollow body member having a wall at its first end, a second end which is open, and a hollow interior. The closed end of the body member carries a hollow projection having a first end which is closed and a second end which is open, the hollow interior of this projection being in fluid communication with the hollow interior of the body member. The cap has a weakened peripheral portion near its closed end so that its closed end may be twisted off to gain access to the hollow interior of the cap. The cap may comprise thread means on the inside surface of the body member near its open end or it may have thread means on the outside surface of the aforementioned projection between the weakened peripheral portion and the end wall of the body member. The cap may be used to cover or close the port of a device. It can thereafter be completely removed from the port or, alternatively, the closed end portion thereof may be snapped off to provide a site at which auxiliary medical equipment can be connected.
