摘要： A film of a II-VI group compound semiconductor of at least one of elements belonging to the II group of the periodic table and at least one of elements belonging to the VI group of the periodic table is deposited on a substrate. When the film is deposited on the substrate, a plasma of nitrogen in an excited state is applied to the substrate while removing charged particles from said plasma by a charged particle removing means. The deposited film of a nitrogen-doped II-VI group compound semiconductor has an increased percentage of activated nitrogen atoms and improved crystallinity.

摘要： A semiconductor laser capable of emitting blue or green light is disclosed. The semiconductor laser comprises an n-type ZnMgSSe cladding layer, an active layer, a p-type ZnMgSSe cladding layer, a p-type ZnSe contact layer and a p-type ZnTe contact layer which are stacked in this sequence on an n-type GaAs substrate. A p-side electrode is provided on the p-type ZnTe contact layer. An n-side electrode is provided on the back surface of the n-type GaAs substrate. A multiquantum well layer comprising quantum wells made of p-type ZnTe and barriers made of p-type ZnSe is provided in the depletion layer produced in the p-type ZnSe contact layer along the junction interface between the p-type ZnSe contact layer and the p-type ZnTe contact layer. Holes injected from the p-side electrode pass through the junction by the resonant tunneling effect through quantum levels formed in the quantum wells of the multiquantum well layer.

摘要： An image filing apparatus and method for receiving as multivalue data an image corresponding to a document, converting the data to binary image data and storing the binary image data. According to the features of the present invention, pixels of that portion of an input image corresponding to a particular color are extracted, and luminance data expressing monochromatic binary image data and binary image data designating colored portions are stored in different planes. Not only black pixels but also pixels expressed in a particular color such as red are described in the plane for the luminance data. Pixels having a particular color to be expressed in "red" such as red characters are extracted and recorded as "1" in another particular color plane, for example, in R-plane different from the luminance plane. The R-plane is recorded with binary image data; only pixels written in "red" are expressed as "1" there and other pixels as "0". When outputted, the pixels in which the contents of the luminance plane are "1" and the contents of the R-plane are "0" are displayed in black and the pixels in which the contents of the R-plane are "1" are displayed in red.

摘要： When image information of documents is stored in the image storage of an image filing device, the title information is entered for each document for easy retrieval of the image information after filing. For entry of the title information for each document into the image filing device, it is necessary to fill in title information in the title entry format, supply the title information entry format through the image input unit of the image filing device and to recognize the characters of the title information. This title information entry format is automatically designed and entered into the image storage by the operator who supplies the title information and file name by operating the keyboard of the image filing device. When the operator designates one of the plural title information entry formats entered for each file, the title information entry format thus designated is printed out by the image output unit of the image filing device. The printed title information entry format is filled-in with the title information and set in the image input unit of the image filing device along with a document to be filed. With the above operations, the image filing device recognizes the title information and files it along with the document into the image storage.

摘要： A stainless steel with black transparent appearance suitable for use as a decorative architectural material. The stainless steel material has a stainless steel substrate and a thin graphite film formed on the substrate, the thin graphite film having a thickness not greater than 1 .mu.m and containing 10 to 75 wt % of carbon existing in a state of diamond. This stainless steel material is produced by chemical vapor deposition process making use of a capacitance-coupled type high-frequency plasma, having the steps of preparing a stainless steel material as a substrate; placing the substrate in an atmosphere of a mixture gas which contains both hydrogen gas and an inert gas together with a hydrocarbon gas; and causing a reaction by applying a D.C. voltage of 100 to 600 V using the substrate as a cathode; thereby forming, on the substrate, a thin graphite film having a thickness not greater than 1 .mu.m and containing 10 to 75 wt % of carbon existing in a state of diamond.
