    • In a fuel cell vehicle 10 of the invention, fuel cells 20 are integrally placed in a lower space 15 of a front seat 14, while a secondary battery 40 is integrally placed in a lower space 18 of a rear seat 17. The integral arrangements of the fuel cells 20 and the secondary battery 40 separately in the lower space 15 of the front seat 14 and in the lower space 18 of the rear seat 17 ensure high-performance operations of both the fuel cells 20 and the secondary battery 40 having different working environments. This arrangement also attains the effective use of the generally-dead, lower spaces 15 and 18 of the front and rear seats 14 and 17 to receive the fuel cells 20, the secondary battery 40, and their peripheral equipment.

    • A lamp for vehicle that includes a light source, a housing, a reflector and a lens is disclosed. The lens is made by the process that includes the steps of (a) assuming an imaginary plane with a cross hatching pattern made of crossing groups of plural lines disposed in parallel at a constant pitch, (b) deforming the imaginary plane by a desired shape consisting of a convex surface, a concave surface or a combination of both surfaces, so that the cross hatching pattern is deformed into a process surface, and (c) processing a lens cut in accordance with the cross hatching pattern when the process surface is orthographically projected onto the lens surface. The deformation given to the imaginary plane is performed so that the maximum pitch of the cross hatching pattern orthographically projected onto the lens surface is 1.5 times or more and 20 times or less the minimum pitch. The lens cut may have curvatures of the same diffusion coefficient regardless of the pitch of the cross hatching pattern. Alternatively, the lens cut may have a curvature whose diffusion coefficient becomes greater when the pitch of the cross hatching pattern becomes greater. A convex or concave rib can be formed as a discontinuous portion in at least a part of the substantial boundary between the process surface in which the cross hatching pattern of the lens surface is deformed and the process surface in which the cross hatching pattern is not is deformed.

    • A rotating part for a high speed synchronous generator comprises a core of magnetic material, side walls of nonmagnetic material, and an outer circumferential portion. The outer circumferential portion is provided on its outside with an inner layer, an inner retaining ring, an outer layer and an outer retaining ring. The inner and outer layers are made up of magnetic and nonmagnetic portions. The retaining rings are of magnetic material. The greater strength and lighten weight of the nonmagnetic portions reduces the centrifugal forces on the magnetic portions. In an alternative embodiment, the outer circumferential portion comprises a number of layers comprising alternate portions of magnetic and nonmagnetic material, retained by rings of magnetic material. The nonmagnetic portions support the magnetic material, and prevent it from damage through centrifugal force. Another alternative embodiment includes recesses in the outer retaining ring and a nommagnetic material disposed in said recesses for securing the retaining ring. Another alternative embodiment comprises a magnetic core, a nomagnetic side wall of high strength, a magnetic portion, and a retaining ring divided into magnetic parts and nonmagnetic parts.
