    • An ultrasonic rotary drive device includes an ultrasonic motor including an ultrasonic generating portion and a first rotary output portion, wherein the first rotary output portion is in contact with the ultrasonic generating portion to be rotatable relative to the ultrasonic generating portion and rotates by ultrasonic vibrations generated by the ultrasonic generating portion; and a one-way rotational transfer mechanism including a rotary input portion and a second rotary output portion. The rotary input portion rotates with the first rotary output portion. The second rotary output portion is rotatable independently of the rotary input portion. Rotation of the rotary input portion is transferred to the second rotary output portion when the rotary input portion is rotated. Rotation of the second rotary output portion is prevented from being transferred to the rotary input portion when the second rotary output portion is rotated.

    • A switching power supply circuit uses a magnetic material that is harder to be magnetically saturated than ferrite as a core of a transformer or a choke coil and suitably protects a switching element. The circuit includes a transformer having a core made of a magnetic material of amorphous metal, a primary-side winding and a secondary-side winding. The circuit further includes a switching element for flowing current through the primary-side winding of the transformer according to a pulsive drive signal, and a primary-side current detection circuit for detecting the current flowing through the primary-side winding. The circuit further includes plural circuit elements for rectifying and smoothing a voltage generated in the secondary-side winding of the transformer to generate an output voltage, and a control circuit for generating the drive signal based on at least a detection result of the primary-side current detection circuit, and limiting a period for flowing the current in the primary-side winding.

    • A turbocharger with a variable nozzle has a turbine impeller, a compressor impeller, a shaft coupling the turbine impeller and the compressor impeller, a bearing housing rotatably supporting the shaft, and a turbine housing accommodating the turbine impeller. The turbocharger further includes a variable nozzle mechanism, provided in a compressor impeller side in a radial-direction outer side of the turbine impeller, for adjusting a flow rate of an exhaust gas directed to the turbine impeller. The bearing housing has a radially expanded portion that extends to a radial-direction outer side to be coupled to the turbine housing at a radial-direction outer side portion thereof such that the variable nozzle mechanism is accommodated between the turbine housing and the radially expanded portion. Between the variable nozzle mechanism and the radially expanded portion, a heat shield plate is provided for preventing a heat transmission between them.
