    • An axle driving unit includes an axle, a hydraulic pump, a hydraulic motor having a motor shaft on which an output gear is provided to be drivingly connected to said axle, a center section having a pump mounting surface and a motor mounting surface onto which the hydraulic pump and the hydraulic motor are mounted respectively so as to be fluidly connected with each other through the center section, a housing constituted by a first housing part and a second housing part joined to each other at a joint surface, a projection integrally formed on the center section so as to be fitted to the housing, thereby fixing a position of the center section relative to the housing, and a fastener fastening the center section to the first housing part. The pump mounting surface and said motor mounting surface may be disposed perpendicular to each other. Said pump mounting surface and said motor mounting surface are disposed perpendicular to each other. The projection may be extended in parallel to the pump mounting surface and perpendicular to the motor mounting surface.

    • An axle driving apparatus for being mounted on the body frame of a vehicle and for independently rotating drive wheel members. The axle driving apparatus includes a first axle driving unit (18L) leaving a housing (40) and a single axle (20L), the single axle (20L) defining a proximal end portion rotatably mounted in the housing (40) and a distal end portion extending outwardly from a first side of the housing (40). An enlarged region is defined by the housing (40), with the enlarged region extending substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the single axle (20L). A hydraulic stepless speed change assembly (22) is disposed within the enlarged region. The speed change assembly (22) includes a hydraulic pump (52) having an input shaft (21) projecting from the enlarged region and includes a hydraulic motor (55) including an output shaft (74) drivingly connected to the single axle (20L). The first axle driving unit (18L) is used in conjunction with a second axle driving unit (18R) which is adjacently disposed to the first axle driving unit (18L) on the body frame of the vehicle and which is of substantially similar construction. However, the second axle driving unit (18R) features a single axle (20R) which extends outwardly from a second, opposite side of the housing (40) such that the axles (20L, 20R) are oppositely disposed.

    • In a displacement-control mechanism for a vehicle hydrostatic transmission system including a traveling hydrostatic transmission (HST) and a steering hydrostatic transmission (HST), a steering link member is extended from a steering displacement-control device of the steering HST, and connected at an end thereof to the traveling-direction switching rotary member interlocking with a traveling manipulator for setting traveling speed and direction of the vehicle or with a traveling displacement-control device of the traveling HST. The traveling-direction switching rotary member is rotatable so as to be switched between a forward-traveling position and a backward-traveling position depending on whether the traveling manipulator is operated for forward traveling or backward traveling. A steering-setting rotary member is operatively connected to a steering manipulator for setting turning direction and angle of the vehicle so as to be rotatable centered on a pivotal shaft according to manipulation of the steering manipulator. The steering-setting rotary member is formed with a guide slot in which the end of the steering link member is slidably fitted. Both ends of the guide slot are disposed opposite to each other with respect to an axis of the pivotal shaft so as to move in opposite directions to each other during the rotation of the steering-setting rotary member, and the end of the steering link member is selectively disposed at one of the opposite ends of guide slot depending on whether the traveling-direction switching rotary member is disposed at the forward-traveling position or the backward-traveling position.

A second hydraulic pump is operatively connected to the driving source and having inlet/outlet ports respectively and fluidly connected to high and low pressure sides of the fluid passages between the second pair of hydraulic motors. The first hydraulic pump is of a variable displacement type that varies the amount of hydraulic fluid to be discharged and supplied, based upon the displacement amount of a first output adjustment member, in which the displacement amount is varied by operating the first output adjustment member via a driving-speed operation member. The second hydraulic pump is of a variable displacement type that varies the amount of hydraulic fluid to be discharged and sucked, based upon the displacement amount of a second output adjustment member, in which the displacement amount is varied by operating the second output adjustment member via a steering operation member. Rotational power is input from each of the second pair of hydraulic motors to a corresponding one of the output shafts of the first pair of hydraulic motors by a magnitude corresponding to the operational amount of the steering operation member in a different rotational direction from each other.
