The transient state detector detects the transient state of the phase locked loop circuit according to a direct current level variation based on a phase difference between a horizontal synchronous signal from the micro-computer and a horizontal drive signal from the phase locked loop circuit. In addition, the micro-computer outputs vertical and horizontal synchronous signals with frequencies corresponding to the changed operation mode of the video card when the transient state detector detects no transient state of the phase locked loop circuit because the phase locked loop circuit is again operated at a phase locked state.

    • A circuit for inhibiting a transition phenomenon in a power supply unit is disclosed. When the power supply mode is shifted, a transition phenomenon is made not to appear in the operating power supplied to the load. The circuit includes a microcomputer which judges as to the presence or absence of horizontal and vertical synchronizing signals supplied from the computer system so as to vary the power in a stepwise form when shifting the power supply mode. In accordance with control signals of the microcomputer, a feedback level adjusting section reduces the error detected voltage in a stepwise form when the power is fed back from a second rectifying section through an error detecting section to a pulse width modulator (PWM) control section. Therefore, in accordance with the stepwisely decreasing error detected voltage, the pulse width modulator (PWM) control section reduces its output signals in a stepwise form, so that the power supplied to the load can be reduced in a stepwise form.

A method for automatically controlling beam current in the multimode monitor includes the steps of performing mode detection by checking the horizontal or vertical synchronization signal of the multimode monitor, reading the preset luminance data for the relevant operational mode from the memory, reading present luminance data from the high voltage circuit, and performing luminance data compensation by comparing the preset luminance data and the present luminance data, adjusting the present luminance data to equal the preset luminance data, and automatically outputting the compensated present luminance data to the automatic beam current controller.
