摘要： Disclosed is a method of forming a large number of monocrystalline silicon regions, of uniform orientation, on the surface of an insulator material. Initially, a large number of island regions of amorphous or polycrystalline silicon, thermally connected to one another in a predetermined direction by connecting regions, are provided. Then such island regions are sequentially melted and regrown in such predetermined direction so as to form the monocrystalline semiconductor regions, with such regions having a uniform orientation. Thereafter, such connecting regions can be removed in order to isolate the island regions. The connecting regions can be formed with gaps, whereby such connecting regions need not be removed. The connecting regions can be formed of materials having a higher heat conductivity than that of the material of the island regions, and/or the connecting regions can have a smaller cross-sectional area at right angles to the predetermined direction than that of the island regions. Such island regions can be utilized for forming semiconductor elements, such as MOS FETs, therein.

Provided are a cutting tool manufacturing method in which a cutting tool material is cut by using, as a laser beam, a laser beam formed by combining two linearly polarized laser beams so that the directions of polarization of the two linearly polarized laser beams are at right angles to each other; a cutting tool manufacturing method in which a circularly polarized laser beam is used as a laser beam; a cutting tool manufacturing method in which a randomly polarized laser beam is used as a laser beam; a cutting tool manufactured by the manufacturing method; a cutting tool manufacturing apparatus that includes means for generating a combined laser beam formed of two linearly polarized laser beams, the directions of polarization of the two linearly polarized laser beams being at right angles to each other and an optical system that guides the combined laser beam to the cutting tool material; a cutting tool manufacturing apparatus that includes means for generating a circularly polarized laser beam; and a cutting tool manufacturing apparatus that includes means for generating a randomly polarized laser beam.

After the image creating unit start creation of a three-dimensional ultrasound image in a late phase, when the operator presses a composition display button, the movement-distance calculating unit calculates a movement distance between a three-dimensional tissue image at the moment of the press of the composition display button and each of three-dimensional tissue images in the area to be displayed as superimposed, and an image correcting unit corrects each of three-dimensional contrast enhanced images corresponding the three-dimensional tissue images of the blood-vessel early phase by using the movement distance. An animated-image compositing unit creates a group of images for animation that the corrected three-dimensional contrast enhanced images of the blood-vessel early phase are each combined with a three-dimensional contrast enhanced image of the late phase, and a monitor displays the group of the images for animation in animation.
