    • The apparatus of the present invention utilizes a bricklaying robot which comprises an automatic brick-handling or grabbing device fastened to the end of a main arm which is carried by a frame mounted on a work platform; and which is radially movable relative to the platform. Circular movement of the arm and of the grabbing device relative to the vertical axis of the work platform is generated as result of a rotation of the platform about this vertical axis. The present invention also utilizes a storage table which is mounted underneath the main arm of the robot, so as to be movable along a vertical axis and rotatable about the axis. The present invention further includes an automatic depalletizing mechanism comprising a pivoting arm, of which one of the ends is equipped with a brick-grasping device and the other end is mounted pivotally on a support sliding parallel to the main arm of the robot between two rails of the frame. This brick lining apparatus is less bulky than known prior art apparatuses and offers monitoring personnel a greater degree of safety.

    • An apparatus for the processing and scrubbing of contaminated gases i.e., gases entrained with particulate matter, is presented. The apparatus comprises a primary dust removal unit which receives a descending gas pipeline originating from a generator or source of contaminated gases. This primary dust removal unit acts to precipitate the larger solid particles from the contaminated gas via gravity and/or inertia to define semi-scrubbed gas. A plurality of scrubbers are provided within the primary dust removal unit to form the forced scrubbing of the semi-scrubbed gases from the primary unit. Each of these scrubbers contain a series of bag filters which are traversed from bottom to top by the semi-scrubbed gases. The scrubbers also include means for monitoring the temperature of the gases at different points in their passage and means for cooling or heating the gases in order to maintain their temperature within predetermined operational limits.

    • An apparatus for actuating a proportioning valve is presented. The valve consists of a pair of registers, each register having a cut-out portion defining a variable area orifice which is generally symmetrical about a central longitudinal axis through the orifice. The registers are respectively connected to a first and second drive shaft, the drive shafts being mounted about a common axis and being mounted in bearings in a frame such that by pivoting about the common axis, the drive shafts will urge the registers to simultaneously move in opposite directions. Each of the two drive shafts are provided with an arm which are pivotably connected to a tilting lever via a connecting rod. The two tilting levers are mounted on a pivot shaft which is parallel to the common axis of the two drive shafts. The tilting levers are also connected to a driving device, i.e., a hydraulic jack which acts to pivot them about their pivot shaft so that the registers are simultaneously actuated in opposite directions. Preferrably, one of the tilting levers is a substantially straight bar while the other of the tilting levers is a bent bar, the pivot shaft being connected between about the center portion of the straight bar and the bend portion of the bent bar.
