    • An optical information recording medium of the present invention includes: a substrate with at least one selected from the group consisting of a groove and a pit formed on one surface thereof; at least one information layer provided on the surfaces of the substrate, the information layer including at least one selected from the group consisting of a recording film and a reflective film; a resin layer provided on the information layer; and a light transmission layer provided on the resin layer. The resin layer includes a first resin film and a second resin film disposed in this order from the side of the light transmission layer, and when a water absorption rate of the first resin film is represented by A1 and a water absorption rate of the second resin film is represented by A2, A1 and A2 satisfy: A1>A2. The first resin film and the second resin film may have a different flexural modulus of elasticity.

    • An optical information recording medium that is a phase-change type optical disk includes, on a transparent substrate having a land and a groove, a phase-change type recording layer in which an optically detectable reversible change occurs between an amorphous phase and a crystalline phase by irradiation with an energy beam, wherein dielectric layers are provided so as to be in contact with at least one side of the phase-change type recording layer, the phase-change type recording layer contains at least one selected from the group consisting of Te, Se, Sb, In, Ge, and Ag as a main component, aid the dielectric layers contain, as main components thereof, at least one selected from the group consisting of Ge and Si, and N. The dielectric layers contain an element &bgr; (where &bgr; is at least one element selected from the group consisting of Ti, Zr, Hf, V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo, W, Mn, Tc, Re, Cu, Ag, Au, Zn, and Cd) or an element &ggr; (where &ggr; is at least one element selected from the group consisting of Sb, Te, Se, Sn, Ga, and In), and the phase-change type recording layer contains an element &agr; (where &agr; is at least one element selected from the group consisting of Ti, Zr, Hf, V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo, W, Mn, Tc, Re, Cu, Ag, Au, Zn, and Cd). Thus, the optical information recording medium of the present invention exhibits satisfactory cycle characteristics, in which movement of a material in a phase-change type recording layer is suppressed even with a large number of repetitions of so-called land & groove recording.

    • An optical information recording and reproducing apparatus for recording and reproducing an information signal on/from both concave portions and convex portions of guide grooves formed on a recording medium is disclosed. The optical information recording and reproducing apparatus includes: an optical portion for focusing a light beam emitted from a light source on the recording medium; a focusing control portion for controlling a focal point of the light beam; a tracking control portion for controlling the position of the light beam; a selection portion for selecting which of the concave portions and the convex portions of the guide grooves are used for recording or reproducing; a polarity inverting portion for inverting the polarity of an output signal from the tracking control portion depending on a result selected by the selection portion; a waveform setting portion for setting a modulation pattern for the light; and a signal reproduction portion for demodulating the information signal from a light reflected or transmitted by recorded marks recorded on the recording medium; wherein at least one of the focusing control portion, the tracking control portion, the waveform setting portion and the signal reproduction portion has at least two kinds of operation conditions for recording and reproducing the information signal on/from the concave portions and the convex portions of the guide grooves, and wherein the operation conditions are selected depending on the result selected by the selection portion.
