    • An electromagnetic driving device of engine valve for internal combustion engine comprising an electromagnetic deriving mechanism includes a first and second electromagnets positioned opposite each other, an armature disposed in a gap formed between the electromagnets for moving therebetween, a follower having a first and second followers that are positioned opposite each other is for moving in relation to the armature, a valve associated with the armature for closing and opening an intake or exhaust passage, a first and second cams having gradually varied their profile are pivoted for contacting respective the first and second followers, a spring is disposed between the follower and the cams for urge the first and second cams toward the first and second followers, respectively. Thereby, the armature is prevented from colliding the electromagnet, and the valve capable of seating a valve seat smoothly and gently, so that the valve is possible to indicate an ideal valve lift characteristic at the end period of the valve. Therefore, this invention is possible to prevent noise, wearing and damage caused by the collision between the valve and the valve seat and between the armature and the electromagnet.

    • According to a control strategy, a cylinder valve control device is monitored and operation of the engine is modified. The cylinder valve control device includes a driving shaft driven by the engine to drive an intermediate member which in turn drives a cam arranged to open an engine intake valve, and a driver which is operative in response to a command to vary an amount of eccentricity of the intermediate member with respect to a shaft axis of the driving shaft. During one mode of engine operation, the intermediate member is supported in a support for rotation about an axis in eccentric condition with respect to the shaft axis to accelerate and decelerate the cam with respect to rotation of the driving shaft. During another mode of engine operation, the intermediate member is in concentric condition with respect to the shaft axis to provide a synchronous motion of the cam with rotation of the driving shaft. In response to the eccentricity of the intermediate member, the engine operation is modified.

    • A valve drive for an internal combustion engine, comprises a valve train which is operable in a first state to transfer the rotational motion of a low lift cam lobe to the reciprocating motion of a cylinder valve against a valve spring. The valve train is also operable in a second a sate to transfer the rotational motion of a high lift cam lobe to the reciprocating motion of the cylinder valve against the valve spring. The valve train includes a cam follower arranged to move between a first position in which the cam follower is driving relation with the low lift cam lode and a second position in which the cam follower is in driving relation with the high lift cam lobe. An actuator and a return mechanism are arranged outside of the valve train to shift the cam follower between the first and second positions thereof.

    • A cam shaft assembly comprises a first coupling between a drive collar rotatable with a driving shaft and an annular disc at a first position spaced from the shaft axis, and a second coupling between the disc and said hollow cam at a second position angularly spaced from said first position with respect to the shaft axis. The first and second couplings are so spaced from the shaft axis that they are at varying distances from the axis of the disc during operation. Each of the first and second couplings has a movable connection with the disc to permit the variation in its distance from the axis of the disc. The disc is rotatably supported in a disc housing. A control rod is mounted for rotation and has an eccentric control cam which controls movement of the disc housing. A pivot shaft extends through the disc housing for allowing movement of the disc housing following the eccentric control cam in which said plurality of hollow cams are disposed.
