    • A system for use in borehole completion is provided and includes a perforating sub, a firing sub having a first port and an interior and including a firing assembly disposable within the interior and operably coupled to the perforating sub and a drilling fluid barrier, which is formed with a second port and is displaceable toward a position at which the first and second ports align to form a fluid path through the interior that is sufficiently pressurizable to actuate the firing assembly, a drop plug selectively engageable with the drilling fluid barrier to enable displacement thereof to the position in response to applied pressures and an isolation sub, into which the drop plug is receivable following disengagement thereof from the drilling fluid barrier.

    • The present invention provides a method and apparatus for plugging a wellbore in a trip saving manner. In one aspect, the invention includes a cement retainer disposed on a run-in string and a radially expanded perforating assembly disposed below the cement retainer. In a single run, the apparatus provides for perforating a wellbore and squeezing cement through the perforations and into the formation therearound. In another aspect, a method of plugging the wellbore includes running a cement retainer and a radially expanded perforating assembly into a wellbore on a run-in string. After the cement retainer is set, a firing head is actuated to cause the perforating gun to discharge. After perforations are formed, cement is introduced from the cement retainer into the isolated area and squeezed through the perforations. Thereafter, the run-in string disengages from the cement retainer leaving behind the plug formed. In yet another aspect, a firing head capable of being actuated by different means is used to discharge the perforating assembly.

    • A detonator bar has an outer housing, an inner housing connected to the outer housing by at least one first frangible member, an explosive charge disposed in the inner housing, and a firing piston with firing pin held in the inner housing by at least one retaining dog and at least one second frangible member. Operation occurs in response to a relatively small impact force between the detonator bar and a perforator or other explosive object located in a subterranean well. This relatively small impact breaks the at least one first frangible member. Thereafter, a fluid pressure existing in the subterranean well, such as a hydrostatic pressure within a tubing string on which a perforator is conveyed, is used to exert a sufficient force to break the at least one second frangible member after the at least one retaining dog has been released by downward movement of the outer housing relative to the inner housing, which relative movement occurs only after the initial impact force has broken the at least one first frangible member.
