    • A scorotron assembly for charging a photoconductive surface to a uniform potential comprises a pair of pin array coronodes having an array of projections extending towards a surface to be charged, a conductive screen, and a support arrangement supporting the screen between the pin array coronodes and a surface to be charged. To prevent the adsorption and subsequent desorption of corona effluents by conductive members of the scorotron, believed to cause photoreceptor deletion copy imperfections, the scorotron is provided with openings in said support member to allow the flow of air therethrough into the area between the screen, and the support members. The directional flow of ions flowing from the pin array coronodes towards the conductive screen generates a strong, substantially parallel air flow flowing therewith, and exhausting through the screen, aiding in the removal of corona effluents from the area.

    • In a copier wherein the fuser rolls are positioned closer than the dimensions of the copy sheet from the image transfer area, speed mismatch compensation between the fuser roll nip and the initial image support surface is provided by intentionally driving the fuser roll nip at a different pre-set velocity to form a buckle in the intermediate portion of the copy sheet. The buckle is controlled by a baffle arrangement which allows the buckle to develop in the copy sheet prior to entering the fuser. The buckle is used to absorb the speed mismatch between the initial image support surface and the fuser and thereby prevent smearing of the unfused image on the copy sheet.

    • The disclosed embodiments are directed to the printing of mixed output jobs automatically as a single integrated job. More particularly, a merging module connects two print systems, for example, at approximately 90 degrees to one another, although other configurations are possible. The merging module includes at least one sheet rotator in a plane that is common to both the paper paths of both print engines. It also includes at least two bypass paths (one above and one below the rotator) to route the two paper paths around the rotator and enable both print engines to deliver their output to the appropriate finishing device.
