    • PURPOSE: A method for extracting dissolved substances from a solution containing lithium and a system based on the method are provided to cost effectively extract metal or metalloid compounds of high purity from a solution (salty water) containing lithium by carbonating calcium and magnesium cations in the solution and extracting lithium phosphate using a phosphorus supplying material. CONSTITUTION: A method for extracting dissolved substances from a solution containing lithium includes the steps: separating calcium cations from a solution containing lithium; separating magnesium cations from the solution without calcium cations; extracting sodium chloride by naturally evaporating the solution without calcium and magnesium cations; and precipitating lithium cations in the solution without the calcium and magnesium cations into lithium phosphate by supplying a phosphorus supplying material into the solution without the calcium and magnesium cations. A system for extracting dissolved substances from a solution containing lithium includes a first, second, and third separating unit, and an evaporating unit. The first separating unit extracts calcium cations from the solution. The second separating unit extracts magnesium cations in a filtrate from the first separating unit. The evaporating unit naturally evaporates a filtrate from the second separating unit. The third separating unit extracts lithium phosphate by precipitating lithium cations in the filtrate which is concentrated by the evaporating unit.

    • A slurry bubble column reactor (11) arranged in use to include a slurry phase (12) and above the slurry phase (12), a gas phase (15), the reactor (11) includes a downcomer (16) secured within it. The downcomer (16) comprises an elongate tube, the tube having a lower portion (18) and an upper portion (17).
