    • A recording operation control method of an optical disc device and an optical disc device using the same are provided to improve record quality by completely recording an image printed on a label side even in case a defect is generated in recording operation while recording at the label side. An optical disc device comprises: a buffer memory(120) in which data are stored; a writer(130) recording the data of the buffer memory in a label side of an optical disc; a controller(140) which discontinues recording operation in case a defect is generated in the recording operation and controls the writer in order to record corresponding data from the interrupted location in case a factor causing the defect is removed; and a memory(150) storing a initial record point in which the writer starts initial record and a stop point in case the recording operation is interrupted.

    • An optical disc comprises indicator means for indicating to a user the state of degradation of the optical disc. For example, the indicator means can be an indicator layer that is configured to change colour when incorporated into an optical disc, thereby providing an indication that the disc is degrading or ageing, and that it is advisable to transfer the data to another storage medium. According to one embodiment, an optical disc 1, for example a DVD, comprises: a label layer 3; a polycarbonate layer 5; an aluminium/silver layer 7; a dye and data layer 9; an adhesive layer 11; and a second polycarbonate layer 13. In addition, the optical disc 1 comprises indicator means in the form of an indicator layer 15. The indicator layer 15 provides an indication to a user about the state of degradation of the optical disc. The indicator layer 15 is arranged such that at least a portion of the indicator layer 15 coincides with the area in which the data layer 9 is located, and configured such that the indicator layer 15 does not interfere with the normal reading and/or writing of data to the data layer 9.

    • A spindle motor is provided to prevent inconsistent rotation of a rotor case and enhance image quality formed on a label side of an optical disk, by rotating the rotor case such that a rotary shaft of the rotor case is inclined to one side when the rotor case is rotated at low speed. A spindle motor comprises a rotor case(170), a bearing holder(120), an armature(140), and a pulling magnet(150). The rotor case, having a rotary shaft(160) in the middle and a magnet(175) along the periphery, is configured to mount a recording medium and to be rotated at high speed or low speed. The bearing holder has a bearing(130), which supports the rotary shaft, inside. The armature installed on the outer peripheral surface of the bearing holder to rotate the rotor case using a force generated between the armature and the magnet of the rotor case when external power is applied. The pulling magnet, installed on the upper side of the bearing holder facing to the rotor case, generates an asymmetrical magnetic attraction between the pulling magnet and the rotor case so that the rotor case can be rotated with its one side inclined while it is rotated at low speed. The rotor case maintains its one side inclined when it is deactivated or rotated at low speed, while it keeps its balance when rotated at high speed.
