    • PURPOSE: A card reader and a method for distinguishing whether an IC chip exists or not as non-contact way are provided to rapidly and accurately distinguish whether an inserted card to a card reader is a magnetic card or an IC card. CONSTITUTION: A metal sensor detects electrostatic capacity or self-capacity change when metal of an inserted card(10) is near to the constant distance. A temperature sensor(130) measures the temperature change of nearby the metal detecting sensor. An oscillation circuit unit(140) transmits the designated value of the oscillation frequency. By distinguishing whether the oscillation frequency change is by the temperature change or the metal, a micro computer unit(160) distinguishes whether the metal exist or not as in non contact way.

    • A method and a system for processing an order in a shop by using an OMR order sheet and an OMR/POS system are provided to improve customer/shop management efficiency and conveniently manage profit/cash by processing order items of a customer with the OMR order sheet inputted to the POS system including an OMR. The OMR order sheet(200a) is issued to each shop(600) placed in a separate space and the customer records the order to the OMR order sheet. Each POS system(601,602) equipped with the OMR reads the order items recorded in the OMR order sheet at each shop. A main POS system(300a) receives read data by connecting to the POS system of each shop, compares the received data with billing information, stores the compared data, and outputs a receipt. A printer(401a,402a) prints an ordered menu output from the main POS system at a processing shop(400a).

    • A position code is recorded by capturing a sequence of images while writing on the base with a user unit. The position code may be decoded to a sequence of absolute positions reflecting the movement of the user unit over the base. If the position code in any image is not sufficiently recorded, e.g. because it is obscured by other graphics on the base, the spatial relationship of the image to another image in the sequence is determined. If the position code in this other image in the image sequence is decodable to an absolute position, the absolute position of the image in which the position code is not decodable could nevertheless be determined by using the spatial relationship. In this way the movement of the user unit can be recorded even though the position code is obscured, which could be the case when the same printing ink is used for both the position code and other graphics on the base.
