    • The invention aims at providing a process for production of trimethylenenorbornane by which trimethylenenorbornane (which serves as raw material of adamantane) can be produced at a high efficiency from raffinate or heavy raffinate heavy without using additionally a hydrogenation unit for dicyclopentadiene or a dimerization column for cyclopentadiene through high-efficiency production of dicyclopentadiene (which serves as raw material of trimethylenenorbornane). A process for the production of dicyclopentadiene which comprises feeding a fluid containing cyclopentadiene and a C6 to C8 fraction into a column for the recovery of cyclopentadiene and distilling a fluid containing dicyclopentadiene obtained by dimerizing at least part of the cyclopentadiene, cyclopentadiene and the C6 to C8 fraction, characterized in that a cyclopentadiene-containing overhead and a dicyclopentadiene-containing bottom are obtained from the top of the column and the bottom thereof respectively and the overhead is refluxed in order that the cyclopentadiene content of the overhead falls within the range of 80 to 99% by mass.
