    • An apparatus and a method for estimating and compensating signal distortion are provided to compensate the signal distortion by estimating the signal distortion generated in a transmission signal by a frequency characteristic of a digital filter and a DAC(Digital to Analog Converter). A test signal generator(711) generates a test signal at each subcarrier to a transmission modem for estimating the signal distortion of the transmission modem. A switch controller(712) controls the switch in order to set up the path of the test signal transmitted to the transmission modem. A calculator(713) receives the test signal with the signal distortion passing through the set path and calculates the average of the signal size of each sub carrier. A distortion estimator(714) produces a compensation value corresponding to the signal distortion of each sub carrier using a signal size of each sub carrier of the test signal in the test signal generator and the calculated average of the signal size of each sub carrier.

    • A UWB(Ultra-Wide Band) transmission apparatus of an OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing) system and a UWB transmission method using the same are provided to enhance accuracy in removing an image signal by increasing a guard frequency interval of a baseband signal and an image signal. A channel coding unit(110) codes data bits according to an MB OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing) PHY standard. An interleaving and mapping unit(120) rearranges the coded data bits and performs severally a mapping operation. A symbol modulation unit(130) modulates the interleaved and mapped data bits to QPSK(Quadrature Phase Shift Keying) symbols by using a QPSK modulation method. A preamble and guard interval insertion unit(150) inserts a preamble and guard interval into a time domain signal. A DAC(Digital Analog Converter)(170) converts I(Inphase) and Q(Quadrature) elements of the time domain signal by using a digital to analog conversion method. An LPF(Low Pass Filter)(180) removes an image from an output signal of the DAC and transmits the corresponding signal through an antenna.

    • As compared to the conventional FFT pre-processing method which performs oversampling in a signal generation device in a radio transmission system, it is possible to significantly reduce the operation amount and reduce the peak power to the similar degree as in the conventional method. A transmitter (100) includes: a slope estimation unit (102) which generates and outputs a slope estimation value indicating the inclination of a data signal waveform at a data signal point; and a slope reference attenuation signal selection unit (103) which estimates a data signal for generating a peak after oversampling based on the amplitude value and the slope estimation value of the data signal, decides an attenuation amount for the selected signal, generates information on the selection result and the decided attenuation amount, and outputs it as a data attenuation coefficient.
