    • An equalizer and an equalizing method are provided to improve a collection speed of tab coefficients by controlling a location of the tab coefficient according to location movement of a received signal. An equalizer(400) in a receiving system includes a tab coefficient update unit(460), and determines a tab coefficient for compensating the distortion and interference of a signal from a tuner. The equalizer comprises an input signal location confirming unit(480) and a coefficient location control unit(470). The input signal location confirming unit confirms change between a location of a signal, currently received in the tuner, and a location of a previously received signal. The coefficient location control unit determines a location of the tab coefficient outputted from the tab coefficient update unit by referring to the location change of the currently-received signal confirmed by the input signal location confirming unit.

    • PURPOSE: An ethernet physical layer protocol (PHY) extending method and an apparatus for the same are provided to increase advantages of an ethernet PHY in cables causing interference between symbols such as bridged tap telephony wiring. CONSTITUTION: A preamble synchronization logic (208) is synchronized with a preamble frame of an ethernet signal received from a receiver in a channel. The preamble frame includes preamble codes. The preamble frame is adjacent to an idle signal frame of the ethernet signal. A preamble generator (210) copies the preamble codes.
