    • PURPOSE: An ATM cell routing method is provided to effectively operate limited VPI/VCI resources, simply manage resources, and reduce the size of a memory for storing routing information. CONSTITUTION: A cell switching unit selects a specific cell for routing through a certain bus mediation algorithm in the first and second queues(S401). If the selected cell is a cell which has been stored in the first queue, the cell switching unit converts VPI/VCI of the corresponding cell through switching and determines an end destination(S402,S403). It is checked whether the corresponding cell needs to be processed through the VPI/VCI information(S404). If the cell needs to be processed, a routing information field is added to the cell, the determined end destination information is inserted into the added routing information field, and then, the routing information field-added cell is stored in the third queue(S406). The cell processing unit separates the routing information field from the cell stored in the third queue(S407), processes the cell according to a pre-defined function(S408), and adds the routing information field to the processed cell and stores it in the second queue(S409). Thereafter, when the cell stored in the second queue is selected(S401), the cell switching unit checks the end destination information of the routing information field of the cell(S402,S410) and transmits the cell to the end destination(S405).

CONSTITUTION: Node information database is configured with a sequential structure as many as the number of nodes capable of being included in a system. A number analysis database is configured with a dual linked list. A reachable address database is configured with a sequential structure. Node information is configured and registered in the node information database, and the performance of a routing protocol is indicated. According to the request of eliminating an optional node in a PNNI(Private network-Network Interface) network, node information is eliminated from the node information database, and the performance of a routing protocol is indicated.

    • PURPOSE: A trap server for managing SNMP(Simple Network Management Protocol) trap messages in an ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) exchange system and a method therefor are provided to process only a SNMP trap, and to distribute the SNMP trap messages to a plurality of NMSs(Network Management Systems), by considering loads of the ATM exchange system itself and a network. CONSTITUTION: A trap demon(22) receives SNMP trap messages generated in an ATM exchange system, and delivers the SNMP trap messages. A database converter(23) converts the SNMP trap messages received through the trap demon(22) into SNMP trap information to store the converted information, and reads the corresponding stored SNMP trap message. A database(24) stores information of a manager and an agent necessary for operations, and the SNMP trap information converted by the database converter(23). And an SNMP library(21) controls operations of the trap demon(22), interprets the SNMP trap messages received from the database converter(23) to generate messages to be delivered to each NMS.

    • PURPOSE: A method of table look up for searching an address of a virtual connection table corresponding to a received cell in an asynchronous transfer mode system is provided so that when a cell is inputted, a VP or VC connection table can be searched speedily by applying simultaneously a Virtual Path (VP) and a Virtual Channel (VC) connections. CONSTITUTION: A method of table look up for searching an address of a virtual connection table corresponding to a received cell includes several steps. A first step is to designate values such as a Base Table Offset (BOFS), a Hash Offset (HOFS) and a header value (401). A second step is to discriminate whether a received Virtual Channel Identifier (VCI) is defined as a Virtual Path (VP) hierarchy (402). If the received Virtual Channel Identifier (VCI) is defined as a Virtual Path (VP) hierarchy, a third step is to read a region for VP by using the address corresponding to the BOFS and to search a VC table (403). If the received Virtual Channel Identifier (VCI) is not defined as a Virtual Path (VP) hierarchy, a fourth step is to read a region for a VP/VC by using the address corresponding to the BOFS and to search a VC table (407).
