    • The present invention relates to a motor-operated power steering system and an initial drive checking method thereof capable of shortening the initial drive time of the motor-operated power steering system because a re-discharge and a charging time are unavoidable by confirming the fixation of a safety switch and the safe switch-off of a sub MCU which monitors the state of a main MCU at the same time. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the motor-operated power steering system includes: a power supply unit; a motor which generates a steering auxiliary power; a safety switch which controls a voltage supply to the motor between the power supply unit and the motor; a main MCU which controls the motor and the operation of the safety switch; and a sub MCU which monitors the state of the main MCU. The main MCU provided in the motor-operated power steering system respectively receives the front and rear end voltages of the safety switch by applying an on-driving signal in the safety switch and confirms the fixation of the safety switch and a fault of the safe switch-off performance of the sub MCU if a potential difference between the received front and rear ends does not exist.
