    • PURPOSE: A large power spiral switch is provided to obtain uniform discharge current flowing on electrode surfaces by preventing a localized discharge so that arc current density is under the threshold damage value of an electrode material. CONSTITUTION: A large power spiral switch comprises insulating housings(7,8), first electrode(1), second electrode(5), an insulator(10) and a wire coil(A). The insulating housings(7,8) are extended in the axial direction with internal spaces and have a discharge area(B). The first electrode(1) moves in the axial direction within the internal space of the housings(7,8). The second electrode(5) starts discharge in the discharge area while being adjacent the first electrode(1) according to the movement of the first electrode(1) to generate an arc. The insulator(10) is placed between the first and second electrodes(1,5) except for the discharge area. The wire coil(A) generates an axial magnetic field in the discharge area of the housings(7,8). The arc moves in the axial direction of the housings(7,8) along a spiral trajectory due to the magnetic fields from the arc and the wire coil.

    • PURPOSE: A pulse power system is provided to minimize local damage of an electrode by moving arc generated between two electrodes by using Lorentz force. CONSTITUTION: When an electromagnet is applied with electric power, a magnetic substance is forced into the center of the electromagnet(85) to move an insulating rod(84) downwardly. Then, the insulating rod(84) is moved in the downward direction withstanding elastic force of a spring(88), and at the same time first electrode(81) is moved downward to be placed adjacent to the second electrode(82), thereby starting discharge between the first and second electrodes. When arc is generated between the electrodes, magnetic field is formed in theta direction and arc is moved in x direction by Lorentz force, thereby preventing local damage of the electrodes.

    • PURPOSE: A large power pulse switch is provided to have an electrification power of 103MW and a discharge time of 5ms by preventing local discharge. CONSTITUTION: An anode(4) is provided on a hollow tube, and a cathode(6) is arranged on the center axis(C) of the hollow tube to be extended in the axial direction. The insulator(3) supports the anode(4) and the cathode(6) while insulating the same. A solenoid coil(2) is wound around the outer periphery of the anode(4). A spark plug(1) is extended toward the central axis(C) while being detached from the anode(4) in a predetermined position of the anode(4) on the hollow tube. Electrons emitted from the cathode(6) is moved along the length while rotating around the cathode on the axis(C) from Lorentz force by magnetic field to prevent local discharge.
