    • PURPOSE: A system and a method for determining the address bus of a controller within a network are provided to determine the address bus of a controller based on a wire harness ID without manually programming the controller to a specific address bus or manually setting a switch on the controller. CONSTITUTION: A controller(12a) comprises a microprocessor(16), a ROM(Read Only Memory)(18), a RAM(Random Access Memory)(20), an I/O interface(22), a PCB(Printed Circuit Board)(14) and a PCB connector(26). The ROM has a lookup table regarding address buses related to a plurality of wire harness IDs. The microprocessor accesses the lookup table using the wire harness ID to select an address bus for the controller.

    • PURPOSE: To efficiently use resources which is connected with a bus. CONSTITUTION: When a command 'NOTIFY' is transmitted, a node ID of a controller from which the command is transmitted is stored in a queue 61, if a free area exists there by a target 12. When the same command 'NOTIFY' is transmitted by the controller before fixed time elapses form the time the command is received (a step 12), a timer operation is restarted by the target 12. When the fixed time of a timer is elapsed, a response 'REJECTED' is returned to the controller by the target 12 (a step S7).
