    • A method for rendering and generating computer-generated video holograms from three-dimensional image data with depth information in real-time, wherein the position of the viewer (V) and the viewer's line of sight determines a view of a scene (3D-S), and at least one virtual viewing window (VW) in a viewing plane (VP) near the eye is assigned to the viewer, including the following procedural steps. Step 1): Three-dimensional rendering and generation of the depth map from scene section data from two parallel section planes that are perpendicular to the line of sight of the observer. Step 2): Transformation of the scene section data, wherein the dispersion of the light waves in the viewing window is propagated. Step 3): Repetition of the 3D-rendering and transformation steps with successive shifts of the section planes into the line of sight, wherein the results of the individual transformations are added up. Step 4): Inverse transformation, wherein the added data from the viewing plane are transformed into hologram data in the hologram plane. Step 5): Coding into pixel values for reconstruction of the three-dimensional scene, in which the process step is executed on a graphic subsystem by one or more graphic processors.
