    • The present invention relates to an alignment layer surface processing method for a liquid crystal display device and an apparatus using the same. The method includes the steps of: a plasma application step of supplying plasma to an alignment layer; a chemical supply step of supplying a chemical solution to dissolve a polymer layer to widen fine grooves; and a washing step of washing out the chemical solution permeated through the fine holes. Accordingly, the result of a black level test conducted while the liquid crystal is arranged to block the transmission of light can be improved at least by 30%. The present invention can also substantially and completely solve the after image effect occurring in a high temperature environment.

    • A apparatus for fabricating an LCD is provided to improve durability of a chamber sidewall and prevent generation of fine particles by forming a Y2O3 coating layer that prevents direct etching of a lower container and capture fine particles generated during an etching process on an inner surface of a sidewall of the lower container. A lower container(100) and an upper container(200) provides a reaction space. A Y2O3 coating layer is formed on a sidewall of the lower container and/or the upper container. The Y2O3 coating layer has a thickness of approximately 150 mum or less. A dry etching apparatus(400) or a chemical vapor deposition apparatus is used as a fabrication apparatus for the LCD.
