    • PURPOSE: An optical fiber unit installation apparatus is provided to prevent the outflow of compressed air and to securely fix a tube. CONSTITUTION: A penetrated entering hole(22) is formed on the center of a driving roller unit(20). The penetrated entering hole is sandwiched in between driving roller(21,21'). A flange part is formed at the rear side of the driving roller unit and puts an optical unit provided from an optical fiber unit supplier into the penetrated entering hole. The optical unit is pushed to the rear side by the driving rollers. A blowing head unit(30) forms a unit passage. The optical unit passes through the unit passage of the blowing head unit by gas pressure created in inside. The gas pressure is generated by a pressing unit.

    • A fibre optic cable (1) includes a core of primary coated optical fibres (2) embedded in an inner layer (3) of acrylate material, having sufficient tensile strength when cured to lock at least the outermost fibres (2) in place and still allow the fibres to be easily broken out of the assembly for termination and splicing purposes. The hardness of the acrylate layer (3) is such that at least the outermost fibres (2) of the bundle are restricted from moving axially relative to the inner layer (3). The inner layer (3) is then surrounded by a loose thin jacket (4) formed from a mixture of high density polyethylene having a Shore hardness greater than or equal to 60 and a generally uniformly distributed slip agent, including a polyether modified poly (dimethylsiloxane) material such as polyether modified hydroxy functional poly (dimethylsiloxane) material. The mixture from which the outer layer (4) is formed is compacted by means of heat and pressure. The outer layer (4) may also contain a mineral filler, such as calcium carbonate and/or titanium dioxide, in order to improve the stability of the dimensions of the outer layer (4) as the temperature changes.

    • PURPOSE: An optical fiber cooling apparatus is provided to prevent an optical fiber from vibrating when cooling the optical fiber by force. CONSTITUTION: A duct(30) has a cone shape. The duct(30) includes an upper surface(A) and a lower surface(B). A first penetration hole(33) and a second penetration hole(35) are formed at the upper surface(A) and the lower surface(B), respectively. A front surface of the duct(30) is open. A rear surface(D) of the duct(30) is a port which supplies a cooling liquid(12). A liquid flow controller(40) is arranged between the rear surface(D) of the duct(30) and a port. When the cooling liquid(12) from a port is introduced to the rear surface(D) of the duct(30), the cooling liquid(12) flows toward the front surface of the duct(30). When the cooling liquid(12) passes through the liquid flow controller(40), a laminar flow of the cooling liquid(12) is changed so that the cooling liquid(12) cools an optical fiber which passes through the first and second penetration holes(33,35).
