摘要： A bobbin exchanging apparatus in a sewing machine is provided to simplify the constitution of a direction switch mechanism in a case that a lower thread bobbin mounted within an iron pot is exchanged, by switching the direction of a chuck part of a bobbin gripping unit through one direction switch unit. A lower thread bobbin is exchanged by exchanging bobbin cases each having a lower thread between an iron pot(8) and a bobbin stock part(5), which is installed adjacently to a front portion of a sewing table. A transport unit(6) reciprocates a bobbin gripping unit(11), which grips the bobbin case at an end of a chuck part(12) thereof, between the iron pot and the bobbin stock part. A direction switch unit, on predetermined sites of movement road of the bobbin gripping unit, performs direction switch such that the chuck part of the bobbin gripping unit moving toward the iron pot is turned to the iron port and the chuck part of the bobbin gripping unit moving toward the bobbin stock part is turned to the bobbin stock part.

With the reliable twining of the thread, the thread is not cut and also will never be forced out of the bobbin case, thereby forming a good seam. Since the thread is not wound around a shaft other than the bobbin shaft, no manual operation is required for resetting the thread to the clamping mechanism, improving the reliability of the bobbin thread winding apparatus. The bobbin thread winding apparatus can accurately detect an effective thread winding amount of the bobbin thread irrespective of the yarn count of the thread used, and does not apply an excessive load to the thread winding mechanism, causing any adverse effect on the stitching quality. The bobbin thread winding apparatus allows a lower thread to be drawn out of the thread supply source and is then securely twisted around the bobbin shaft without a thread draw-out mechanism. Without the need to forcibly draw out the lower thread out of the thread supply source, the cost to manufacture the apparatus is reduced and its reliability is increased.

The system to extract a bobbin/capsule from a double lockstitch sewing machine looper has a manual guide, or it is operated by at least one actuator. The extraction unit can be moved into a third position where it does not affect the stitching action or the movement of the fabric. The looper shrouding(11) is coupled to the guide, which covers the looper when the guide is in the third position. The guide movement brings the bobbin/capsule extraction unit into the second position when the shrouding is removed. The coupling between the looper shrouding and the guide allows a removal of the shrouding for access to the looper, or a simultaneous shrouding removal and bobbin extraction unit movement with a magnetic grip on the bobbin/capsule in the second position. The bobbin/capsule extraction unit has permanent magnetic or electromagnetic characteristics.
