    • The present invention provides a process for applying a diffusion coating to steel coin blanks. The process comprises the steps of (i) charging a metallising reactor with a plurality of coin blanks and a chromising compound comprising ferrochromium granules, an energiser and a refractive diluent, (ii) heating the chromising compound to generate a chromising vapour for deposition on to the coin blanks, and (iii) removing the coin blanks from the reactor. The reactor rotates at a rate of 0.5-50 rpm. A process for preparing coins is also disclosed.

    • PURPOSE: A treatment of metal surface is provided by chromizing and ion nitration, which is characterized by good anti-oxidation and abrasion-resistance. CONSTITUTION: The chromizing step(S13) comprises washing step which washes surface of sample more than 10 minutes with acetone after polishing it more than 10um and NH4Cl, Al203 mixture-manufacturing step using Al203 ball. The container with sample and Ti is treated at reduction circumstance of 1000-1300°C about 1-10hours. CrN layer is formed by the ion nitration treatment(S23) after chromizing treatment. The process of ion nitration step comprises sample-washing step, sputtering step(S22), sample-treating step and sample-cooling step(S24).
