    • A method for preparing a pigment composition is provided to produce the pigment composition capable of forming red filters having excellent brightness. A method for preparing a pigment composition includes a step of wet- or dry-grinding a pigment selected from the group consisting of dianthraquinone pigments, diketopyrrolopyrrole pigments, and mixtures thereof in the presence of a compound represented by the following formula 1. In the formula, Q represents an -NH(CH2)nNR^1(R^2) group or hydroxyl group, R represents an -NH(CH2)nNR^1(R^2) group, wherein each of R^1 and R^2 independently represents a C1-4 alkyl group or R^1 and R^2 form a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring containing a nitrogen atom(and further a nitrogen or oxygen atom) together with a nitrogen atom to which R^1 and R^2 are bonded, and n is an integer of 1-4.

    • PURPOSE: A method for preparing a nanoscale pigment particle composition is provided to obtain pigment particles useful for paint, coating, ink jet printing, optoelectronic imaging components, optical color filters, photograph members, and cosmetics. CONSTITUTION: A process for preparing nanoscale particles of benzimidazolone pigments comprises: providing one or more organic pigment precursor to a benzimidazolone pigment; providing a solution or suspension of a sterically bulky stabilizer compound that associates non-covalently with a benzimidazolone moiety on one of the pigment precursors, wherein the sterically bulky stabilizer compound is selected from the group consisting of substituted pyridine derivatives, alkylated benzimidazolone compounds, alkylated derivatives of aromatic acids, and mixtures thereof; and carrying out a coupling reaction to form a benzimidazolone pigment composition, whereby the pigment precursors are incorporated within the benzimidazolone pigment and one or more functional moieties on the benzimidazolone pigment is non-covalently associated with the sterically bulky stabilizer, so as to limit an extent of particle growth and aggregation and result in nanoscale-sized pigment particles.
