    • The present invention relates to a polyester resin and a method for manufacturing the polyester resin. The polyester resin comprises: a dicarboxylic acid residue containing terephthalic acid; and a diol residue containing isosorbide, cyclohexane dimethanol, and a remainder of other diol compounds, wherein the polyester resin contains a zinc-based catalyst and a phosphorous-based stabilizer, has a specific intrinsic viscosity and melting point, and has oxygen-permeability according to ASTM D 3985 below 20 cc*mm/(m2*day*atm). The method for manufacturing the polyester resin comprises the steps of: esterifying a diol ingredient containing the isosorbide, the cyclohexane dimethanol, and the reminder of other diol compounds, with the dicarboxilic acid ingredient containing the terephthalic acid, in the presence of an esterification reaction catalyst containing a zinc-based compound; adding the phosphorous-based stabilizer when the esterification reaction has reached at least 80%; and polycondensing the product of the esterification reaction.
