    • The invention aims at providing lactone polyester polyols reduced in the content of low-molecular compounds and high-quality polyurethane resins. The invention provides lactone polyester polyols having contents of cyclic lactones of 0.05 wt% or below; and a process for the production of lactone polyester polyols which comprises the first step of adding a cyclic lactone compound, a low-molecular polyol and/or a polycarboxylic acid, and an esterification catalyst to the reaction system and making the ring-opening addition reaction of the cyclic lactone compound or esterification proceed until a prescribed degree of conversion and the second step of continuously feeding the reaction fluid into a thin-film evaporator and subjecting the reaction fluid in the form of thin film to evaporation to remove low-molecular compounds from the system.
