    • PURPOSE: A porous ceramic material and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to use cenosphere and clay at an optimal ratio, thereby obtaining a porous ceramic body having a small specific gravity. CONSTITUTION: A porous ceramic material is composed of cenosphere and clay and has a plurality of pores inside. 5-200 parts by weight of the clay are included for 100.0 parts by weight of the cenosphere. The porosity of the porous ceramic body is 40-70%. The average internal porous size of the porous ceramic body is 1X10^-6 - 1X10^-9 m. The apparent specific gravity of the porous ceramic body is 0.5-1.1. A manufacturing method of the porous ceramic body comprises the following steps: mixing cenosphere, clay and water; molding the mixture; drying the molded product at 90-99 deg. Celsius; sintering the dried products at 1000-1300 deg. Celsius; and cooling the sintered products down to the room temperature.
