    • The present invention provides a method for manufacturing a plate workpiece by a surface microstructure. Prior to press molding, a preform is arranged between a first mold and a second mold having patterns and is arranged in the second mold. Then, the first mold and the second mold are heated to a transition temperature of the preform and then is pressurized with respect to the preform and a pattern preform is obtained through sealing impression of a pattern on the preform. Lastly, the patterned preform is cooled and contracted with the second mold and the plate workpiece having the surface microstructure is obtained. Since the patterned perform is uniformly cooled from a lower portion to an upper portion by thermal conduction, a temperature field is isothermal in horizontal distribution. Accordingly, the plate workpiece having the surface microstructure can be obtained with high accuracy, which is useful in maintaining multiple optical fibers in optical communication.
