    • According to an embodiment, provided is a method for producing highly crystallized particles having a specific surface area of greater than or equal to 5 m^2/g. A raw material composition contains a resin and at least partially amorphous precursor particles. By heating the composition, the resin is carbonized and crystallizability of the precursor particles can be improved. Produced is a mixture of highly crystallized particles and carbon. Then, acid and carbon are reacted by contacting a treatment liquid containing acid with the mixture. Carbon is removed and slurry containing reaction products is produced. The highly crystallized particles comprise a first portion having much smaller diameter and a second portion having much larger diameter.
