摘要： The present invention relates to a thread milling cutter, which comprises a cutting head (1), having a holder (3) with a number of cutting insert pockets (10), a number of threading inserts (11), which are received in said cutting insert pockets (10) and an attachment (5) integrated with the cutting head (1), which attachment is intended to be received in a tool coupling. The invention also relates to the holder per se and to a method for milling an external thread on a spigot. Distinguishing for the thread milling cutter according to the present invention is that the holder (3) is provided with an internal cavity (7), which has an extension both radially and axially with regard to a rotational axis (CL) of the thread milling cutter, and that the cutting insert pockets (10) are provided in the internal cavity (7).

摘要： A thread-whirling tool is provided to reduce time for processing by setting the radial direction of each cutting edge in individual inserts to be in contact with the side of each insert which is separated from the cutting edges. A thread-whirling tool comprises a through-hole(10), plural inserts radially arranged around a rotation axis(5), and at least one cutter having at least one cutting edge. The outer threads of various shapes are fabricated in a thread-whirling manner from a solid material of a workpiece. Each individual indexable insert is positively and non-positively fitted to a thread-whirling head(1). Each indexalbe insert having an indexable insert surface on a bearing surface(20) of a freely accessible recess(2) is radially orientated between a first side(21) and a second side(22) of the recess, and mounted on a first plane(7) of the thread-whirling head perpendicular to the rotation axis. The distance of the indexable inserts along the periphery of the thread-whirling head is selected so that more than one cutting edges are simultaneously in contact with the workpiece.
