    • A multi functional cutting tool is provided to stably perform cutting work by vertically forming a marginal side surface of a cutting insert. A multi functional cutting tool comprises a cutting insert(200), a cutter body coupled with the cutting insert, and a screw for fixing the cutting insert to the cutter body. The cutting insert cuts an object by using an upper surface(201) having a chip breaker(202). A circular hole(203) is formed at the center of the cutting insert. A boss(204) is provided in the circular hole to fix the cutting insert to the cutter body. The cutting insert is provided at the upper surface thereof with first and second edge sections(210,220). The cutting insert includes the first and second cutting edges. The first cutting edge includes a first edge(210a) and a first land surface(210b), and the second cutting edge includes a second edge(220a) and a second land surface(220b). A main cutting edge(230) is provided between the first and second cutting edges.

    • The present invention provides a cutting insert an indexable cutting insert (10), for use in a cutting tool (46) for milling operations. The cutting insert (10) is generally rhomboidal in shape having a peripheral side surface (14) extending between and perpendicular to the two opposing end surfaces (12). A cutting edge section is associated with each end surface (12) and comprises first (32) and second (34) cutting edges merging at a corner cutting edge (36). The two first cutting edges (32,34) associated with each end surface, form a non-zero first angle with respect to a median plane (m) of the cutting insert (10). The peripheral side surface (12) comprises four generally flat major side surfaces (26), two diametrically opposing radiused corner side surfaces (28), and two diametrically opposing generally flat minor side surfaces (30). Each end surface is provided with a flat end region (24). The flat end regions are parallel and form axially outermost protruding regions of the cutting insert (10).

    • A cutting tool comprising a tool body being turned about the axis, and a cutting insert fixed removably to the outer circumference at the tip of the tool body. The cutting insert has a front/back-reversal symmetric substantially regular heptagonal plane shape having two heptagonal faces parallel with each other, a side face continuous to each heptagonal face at right angle, and a cutting edge provided at each ridge line between the heptagonal face and the side face. The cutting edge includes a main cutting edge projected onto the side of the regular heptagon, and sub-cutting edges extending from the opposite ends of each main cutting edge to incline toward the center of the heptagonal face and connecting the adjoining main cutting edges.
