    • PURPOSE: A ligand used for a hydroformylation catalyst and a catalyst for hydroformylation consisted of the ligand and rhodium and a process for preparing aldehyde containing one carbon too many by the hydroformylation of mixed olefin are provided which have industrial utility for the manufacture of the aldehyde. CONSTITUTION: Novel ligand of tetrakis-(2,4-I-tertiary-butylphenyl)-4,4-biphenylphosphonite used for a hydroformylation catalyst and a catalyst for hydroformylation consisted of the ligand and rhodium are provided. Also provided is a process for manufacturing aldehyde containing one carbon too many by the hydroformylation of mixed olefin obtained from the low polymerization of lower olefin using the catalyst. The catalyst used the ligand has high recovery rate as well as excellent activity and selectivity such that it can carry out the hydroformylation effectively and economically.
