    • PURPOSE: To provide a hood-type annealing furnace having a simple construction means in such a manner that cooling of protection gas is beneficially performed without permanent influence on construction of the annealing furnace. CONSTITUTION: The hood-type annealing furnace, especially for steel strip or wire bunches, comprises a protection hood(8) positioned above the furnace in such a manner that the protection hood is airtightly connected to an annealing base(1) for accommodating a material to be annealed(7); a radial blower(2) which is kept in an annealing base and equipped of a blade wheel(3) and a guiding device(5) for surrounding the blade wheel to circulate a protection gas in the protection hood; a heat exchanger(11) for cooling the protection gas, an input side of the heat exchanger is connected to an input side of the radial blower by passing through a flow conduit(13), and an output side of the heat exchanger is opened into a ring shaped gap(12) between the guiding device and the protection hood; and a deflection device of which axial displacement into a flow path at an input side of the radial blower is enabled so that the deflection device is optionally connected to the radial blower of a flow conduit connected to the heat exchanger, wherein the protection hood is airtightly maintained via a ring shaped flange(9), the heat exchanger is disposed under the ring shaped flange, the flow conduit starts from the outer circumference of the guiding device and is constructed in a ring shaped conduit(14) being concentric to the ring shaped gap, and the deflection device is arranged as a ring shaped deflection slide(18) which surrounds the guiding device on the outside.
