    • A novel recombinant Escherichia coli CJ600 is provided to produce a highly concentrated tryptophan within short period of time without producing L-phenylalanine by removing the tryptophan demanding property from an L-phenylalanine producing Escherichia coli mutated strain and inactivating or mutating many genes. A recombinant Escherichia coli CJ600 derived from a mutant strain of Escherichia coli(deposition no. KFCC 10066) having the L-phenylalanine producing capability is deposited as a deposition no. KCCM 10812P and is characterized in that it has inactivated pheA, trpR, mtr, and tnaAB genes and mutated aroG and trpE genes, wherein the tryptophan demanding property on a chromosome is removed, A method for preparing the recombinant Escherichia coli with the L-tryptophan producing capability comprises the steps of: (a) removing the tryptophan demanding property on the chromosome from genes; (b) inactivating the pheA, trpR, mtr, and tnaAB genes to block the biosynthesis of L-phenylalanine; and (c) mutating the aroG and trpE genes to enforce genes related to the biosynthesis of the L-tryptophan.
