摘要： A surface light source apparatus and a backlight unit comprising the same are provided to improve the shapes of outermost discharge channels within the surface light source apparatus to improve the luminous characteristic of the surface light source apparatus. A first substrate(211) and a second substrate(212) are joined to each other, thereby forming a plurality of discharge channels(222) between the first substrate and the second substrate. A sealing part is formed along an edge portion between the first substrate and the second substrate. An electrode part(260) is formed on a surface of at least one of the first substrate and the second substrate. The plurality of discharge channels comprises outermost discharge channels positioned at both outermost sides thereof. An end portion of each of the outermost discharge channels is expanded toward the sealing part.
