    • This invention provides a method and an apparatus for producing a concave-convex sheet that, by virtue of the adoption of CO2 gas instead of air as a gas carried with a sheet-like material in contacting the sheet-like material with a concave-convex roller, can reduce an air inclusion-derived failure of transfer involved in the prior art technique. Accordingly, a high-quality concave-convex sheet having a regular fine concave-convex pattern on its surface can be produced without defects even when the travel speed of the sheet-like material is increased for enhancing the productivity. Further, according to the production process and apparatus, a high-quality concave-convex sheet with a regular fine concave-convex pattern formed on its surface can be produced without defects at a high line speed with good productivity.

    • A method of producing an embossed sheet according to the present invention includes the steps of allowing a flexible strip-shaped sheet to continuously travel, forming a coating layer by coating the surface of the sheet with a radiation curable resin, transferring a pattern of concavities and convexities on the surface of the emboss roller to the coating layer by winding the sheet around the rotating emboss roller, curing the coating layer by irradiating the sheet which is wound around the roller with radiation, releasing the sheet from the emboss roller, laminating a protective film on one or both sides of the continuously traveling sheet after releasing, and taking up the continuously traveling sheet after lamination in the form of a roll. According to the method of the present invention, a high quality, defect-free embossed sheet having a fine regular pattern of concavities and convexities on the surface can be produced at high line speed with high productivity.
