CONSTITUTION: An estimating unit(11) obtains direction and distance information of a sound source based on a sound signal converted by a sound receiver. The estimating unit uses the direction and distance information to estimate a component ratio of a noise component included in the sound signal. A control unit(12) obtains a suppression amount control value controlling the range of the direction of the suppressed sound signal. A suppression unit uses the component ratio of the noise component and the suppression amount control value to suppress a sound signal from a direction except the predetermined direction.

    • A method and an apparatus for estimating a sound arrival direction are provided to calculate a difference between arrival distances accurately by using a phase difference spectrum in a frequency with a large SNR. Sound signals from plural sound sources are received as multi-channel inputs(S301). The sound signals are converted into signals on a frequency axis(S303). A phase component on the signal on the frequency axis is calculated for the same frequencies, and a phase difference between channels is calculated(S304). A magnitude component of the signal on the frequency axis is calculated(S305) and a noise component is estimated from the calculated magnitude component(S306). SNRs for respective frequencies are calculated based on the magnitude and noise components(S307). A frequency having the SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio) greater than a predetermined value is selected(S308). A difference between arrival distances is calculated based on the phase difference(S310). A direction of the sound source is calculated(S311).
